Introduction and Objective > Healthy Communication
A large part of our communication is called interpersonal communication. This type of communication occurs among two or more people. Think about the ways in which you communicate with others.
We can communicate by talking in person, on the phone, or in writing. These are all examples of interpersonal communication. Listening is just as important as talking. When you have a conversation with another person, or a group of people, they want to know that what they are saying is being heard.
Healthy communication occurs when two or more people share their thoughts and feelings freely. They express their emotions rather than keeping them bottled up inside. When something happens, it is important to share your reaction to it with someone that you trust. It could be a close friend, a teacher, a guidance counselor, or a relative. Doing this will help you to make thoughtful decisions in life.
