and Engagement of Responsible Students
Introduction and Objective > Six Critical Health Behaviors > Family and Critical Health Behaviors > The Effects of Critical Health Behaviors > Effects of Critical Health Behaviors on Society > Summary
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified six Critical Health Behaviors that it feels are important for you to know and understand. They are the following: alcohol and drug use, tobacco use, injury and violence, risky sexual behavior, nutrition, and physical activity. Although habits formed during adolescence have been proven to have an effect on the health and well-being of a person into adulthood and for the rest of their life, you can always change your behavior to lead a healthier lifestyle and to influence others to do the same.
If you or anyone you know has experience with these or other difficult situations, it’s important to know that you’re not alone. Talking to a parent, teacher, counselor, family member, or other trusted adult can help you to resolve the situation before things become too difficult to control.
Before you go to the next page, make sure that you’re ready for your assessment.
